It's understandable to want everything to be absolutely perfect, especially when these photos will be treasured for years to come. And here in North Georgia, where the weather can be as unpredictable as ever, it's essential to be prepared for anything, whether it's chilly temperatures, warm sunshine, or even a bit of rain.


But here's the thing—while your outfit is undoubtedly important, it's just one piece of the puzzle. There are so many other factors that can make your photos truly stand out, including the photographer, location, and how you style your outfits.

First things first, let's address the overwhelm. I get it—you've probably spent hours scrolling through Pinterest, creating mood boards, and agonizing over outfit choices (and please send those boards to me!). But here's a radical idea: why not start with what's already in your wardrobe? Think about the pieces that make you feel amazing every time you wear them. What styles and cuts flatter your figure and reflect your personality? By sticking to what you know and love, you'll feel confident and comfortable—a winning combination for any photo session.


Now, onto my number one styling tip: coordination over matching. Gone are the days of perfectly coordinated outfits that match from head to toe. Instead, opt for colors and patterns that complement each other, creating visual interest and dimension. Mix and match textures to add depth to your look and elevate your overall aesthetic.


When it comes to color choices, soft tones and neutrals are always a safe bet. They photograph beautifully and won't overpower your natural features. However, that doesn't mean you should shy away from color altogether. Embrace hues that reflect your personality and style, but steer clear of neon or overly bright shades that can cast unflattering reflections on your skin.

And let's not forget about the timeless elegance of white. Whether it's a crisp white shirt or a flowing sundress, white is always a winning choice for senior photos. It's versatile, timeless, and looks stunning in every setting—a true classic that never goes out of style. And it fits perfect with a pop of color in a pair of heels!


Of course, no outfit is complete without the right undergarments. If you're planning to change outfits during your session, be sure to choose undergarments that work seamlessly with each look. The last thing you want is visible bra straps or patterned underwear ruining an otherwise perfect shot. And remember, what you wear underneath matters just as much as what's on the outside. Speaking for myself only, I will not edit out undergarments from the picture, as it is extremely time consuming and will delay client galleries. Please come prepared!! 


When it comes to fit and texture, balance is key. If you're opting for a fitted top, pair it with loose-fitting bottoms for a harmonious look. Conversely, if you're wearing a flowy blouse or skirt, consider pairing it with more tailored pieces to create a balanced silhouette.
